What’s Andy Up To Lately?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hey everybody! It’s been a fast-paced couple years. In the fall of 2014 my daughter was born, and that has been the biggest improv adventure of all time. If improv\u00a0is about risk and vulnerability and being genuinely present, this baby is the ultimate object lesson.<\/p>\n

Around the same time that Kaya was born, I\u00a0did a talk with Creative Mornings Austin<\/a> that kicked off a surprising string of improv speaking gigs. Between that and co-organizing the 2014 Applied Improvisation World Conference, corporate improv (training, team building and keynote speaking) has gone from being a minor part of my improv practice to the main thing that I’m spending my time and energy on right now.<\/p>\n

Recent clients include Whole Foods, National Instruments, the American Marketing Association, Deloitte, Facebook, Dell, Gartner, BCG and many more.<\/p>\n

And using the new skills from these experiences I’m working on a top secret project. More details soon!<\/p>\n

Andy is\u00a0an improv performer\u00a0with hundreds of shows under his belt. You can see him at the Hideout Theatre\u00a0Fridays at 8pm in the Big Bash and every month at various times with his troupes Junk and Danger! Warning! Improv! Check out his upcoming shows.<\/p>

He's an improv instructor, logging thousands of hours teaching the basics of improvisation to all ages at the Hideout and at various schools and companies around Austin, and at festivals and theaters all over the world. Check out his teaching schedule.<\/p>

He's an improv administrator. As the Director of Education and Professional Development of the Hideout Theatre Andy turns the crank that keeps the improv flowing:\u00a0scheduling and marketing classes, registering students and training instructors and staff.<\/p>

He's an improv director. He's the creator and co-director of the Hideout's Big Bash (every Friday at 8pm) and has over the last decade created sold-out shows at the Hideout such as Fakespeare<\/em>, Fandom: Improvised Fan Fiction in Your Favorite Worlds<\/em> and the award-winning Live Nude Improv<\/em>.<\/p>

In the last couple years Andy has traveled to Greece to help build curriculum for the burgeoning improv scene there and organized the the wildly successful 2014 Applied Improvisation World Conference right here in Austin, Texas. His best friends are the people that he plays and works with every week\u00a0and he\u2019s married to a beautiful girl that he met through improv and has a new baby that demands constant improvisation.<\/p>

What seemed scary and cool at first has turned out over the years to be endlessly intriguing and life-affirming.
